DPS-FTP Description

DPS-FTP is a multi-threaded FTP client for GNOME. DPS-FTP is a multi-threaded FTP client for GNOME. It was originally called Kevlar FTP, since its interface was inspired by Bulletproof FTP, and Kevlar is bullet-proof.But DuPont actually sent me a notice telling me that I can't use their trademarked product names in my product name. They were generous enough to allow me to say that my product contains Kevlar, however. After explaining to them that, being software, my "product" does not contain Kevlar, and that I'm not making any money from the "product", they still would not let me use it. So, I renamed the program to DuPont Sucks FTP, or DPS-FTP.Here are some key features of "DPS FTP":· Basic FTP features: browsing local and remote directories· Powerful transfer queue that allows downloading and uploading multiple files to multiple sites in multiple directories in any order· Caching of directory listings· Fully multi-threaded· Multiple connections in separate windows· Site managerRequirements:· I develop DPS-FTP and dpsftplib on a Debian 2.1 i386 system, with glib 1.2.6, GTK+ 1.2.6, GNOME 1.0.54, and libglade 0.11. It should compile with anything higher than GTK+ 1.1.12 and GNOME 0.99, but I can't make any guarantees. If you have any problems, please report them to me. · You will also need dpsftplib, available in the downloads section. This library contains all the actual work. This will allow me to make a console version of DPS-FTP after the GNOME version reaches 1.0. Both programs will be able to share the same queue, for those (like myself) who sometimes use X and sometimes don't.
