As its name suggests, Distro Astro is an open source and free Linux distribution based on Ubuntu Linux and created especially for astronomers and astronomy enthusiasts. Distro Astro features free software dedicated to all astronomy use, from planetariums, observatories, and professional researchers, to amateur enthusiasts and astrophotographers. The distribution is packed with all sorts of applications, such as XEphem, Astronomy Lab 2, AstroCC Coordinate Converter, Cartes du Ciel, or SkyGlobe, KStars. It also provides telescope control, supporting most common telescopes from Celestron, Meade, Orion, and other. Distro Astro is distributed as a single Live DVD ISO image, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.
