LightDM Description

LightDM is an open source graphical software designed to act as a greeter/login manager/display manager for all Linux-based operating systems that use the X.Org X11 server, supporting the GNOME, KDE, Razor-Qt, Unity and Elementary desktop environments. LightDM (The Light Display Manager) is well known for its well-defined greeter API, which allows multiple GUIs (Graphical User Interfaces). The project also supports all display manager use cases, backed by plugins where needed. The display manager offers low code complexity and fast performance on all Linux operating systems. At the moment, it provides the following greeter front-ends: GTK+ Greeter, KDE Greeter, Pantheon Greeter, Razor Greeter, and Unity Greeter.
