Typhoon 2001 is a freeware game inspired by both the Atari Jaguar hit game Tempest 2000 and the arcade hit Tempest. Typhoon 2001 is a freeware game inspired by both the Atari Jaguar hit game Tempest 2000 and the arcade hit Tempest. It takes ideas and concepts from both games, but rearranges and changes them. A few new ideas have been implemented as well.Here are some key features of "Typhoon 2001":· ncredible graphics · Awesome sound · 100 Levels · 7 different enemies · Slowly rising difficulty level · Starting level freely selectable · Controlled by keyboard, mouse or gamepad · Built in leveleditor · Uses OpenGL and AllegroIt can also run on a none 3d graphics accelerator especially on a laptop.Game settings can also be adjusted by entering the default "enter" key (which is the superzaper button).Requirements:· Linux 2.6.x with X11 and hardware accelerated OpenGL drivers · 128 to 256 MBytes of RAM, depending on operating system. · A processor with about 500 Mhz (doesn't matter if AMD or Intel or whatever) · OpenGL capable 3D-Accelerator card. Does not have to be on par with a GeForce 8800 but should be decent... not one of them onboard crap thingiesWhat's New in This Release:· Updated to Allegro 4.2.2 and AllegroGL 0.4.2 · Finally a linux version is available! Binary only though... · Tweaked the bonus stage controls and the bonus stage itself a bit · Added the webs from Tempest and Tempest Tubes, the webs from Tempest 2000 will be added in the future · Optimized the pixelshatter a bit, hopefully no more slowdowns · Cut down the size of some textures since they simply did not need to be that big. With this and other optimizations i managed to reduce the size of the datafile by ~ 25%. · The superzapper now kills the closest enemies first · Some bugfixes and tweaks · Added a credits page on the title screen
