System for real-time testing of TCP/IP protocols NetSpy is a free and open source system for remotely testing TCP/IP services from several machines (currently FTP, SMTP, HTTP, POP3, IMAP, DNS). Here are some key features of "NetSpy": · low hardware requirements (CPU speed, RAM size) · real-time and scheduled testing · supported protocols: FTP, HTTP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, DNS and their SSL variants · authentication support for many protocols · tests availability as well as time needed to resolve DNS names, connect to the server or transfer data. · client-server approach: one machine is configured as ''''master'''' and gathers results · 512/1024-bit RSA authentication · stability - if any of the NetSpy hosts fails, the others are not affected (this is true even for the ''''master'''' node) · consistency - results are stored in a manner designed to prevent data corruption Requirements: · libgmp · libadns What's New in This Release: · documentation updated · netspyd: synchronize upon start up if using remote configuration · nsadm: new option '-u' (UTC), new option '-l' (local time) · netspy.conf: new var 'dbtime' (can be 'utc' or 'local') · score locking revised and cleaned up once more · removed unused functions: writejournal(), init_connection(), readpid() and files: scorejournal.c, nscip.c, readpid.c · other BUGFIXes
