Proportions will extract the dimensions from the file names and place them in the list box If you are a graphic designer, a art worker or you simply have to do a lot of adaptations of a layout for several different sizes, you may find Proportions useful.The only thing you have to make sure is that you have the dimensions of your document included in the file name. But that should be a common practice when naming files, anyway. So, imagine you already created five documents for five different magazines. They are named:mag01_240x350mag02_318x435mag03_210x310mag04_280x335mag05_315x480Now you need to create a new document with the dimensions of 255 by 340. The best way to start this new document would be to base it on one of the files already made. This way, only minor changes would be required and you would be sure that all the elements are already present. But which of the documents has the accurate proportions to correspond to the dimensions of the new document you need to create?This is where Proportions can help you out. Simply drag all the documents that you have already made into the list box. The Proportions application will extract the dimensions from the file names and place them in the list box.Now you can type the new dimensions in the text fields below the list box. As soon as you hit Enter (or press the Calculate button) the dimensions that more closely match the new dimensions is highlighted in the list. You can now press the Open File button o double click the highlighted item in the list and the correspondent file will be opened in the original application that was used to create it.
