Free and open source application to quickly edit or view creator codes and type codes of files QuickFileType is a free and open source application to quickly edit or view creator codes and type codes of files.Creator code and type code are file attributes that will detemine which application opens a file, and are traditionally used on Mac OS 9. Each of the codes are expressed with four ascii characters and their meanings are:· Creator Code - the application to open the file.· Type Code - the kind of the data in the file. On Mac OS X, the file name extension are widely used to determine the application that will open a certain file type. But in many cases, only the file extension can not give enough flexibility.For example, you may want to open some file that has a ".pdf" extension with Preview.app and other file with the same extension using Acrobat Reader. When the file has a creator code, the application to open the file is determined by that creator code. Therefore you can choose the application that you want to open a specific file by setting a creator code for the file. Here are some key features of "QuickFileType": · You can change creator codes and file types of selected files in Finder when QuickFileType is launched. · You can regist favorite sets of a creator code and a type code. · QuickFileType can change multiple files at once. · QuickFileType remember change history and you can choose it from popup menu.
