Word count system service for your Mac WordCountService is a free and open source system service bundle which, when enabled, will add "Word Count" to the Services menu in all applications which support services. To use this word count feature, select text and choose "(application name)->Services->Word Count". The service will present a dialogue box with the count of characters, words, and lines as determined by the system's spell checker.InstallationYou need to place the file WordCountService.service inside a folder called "Services" in your Library folder. That is, the file should be located at /Users/your user name/Library/Services/ .You will likely need to create the Services folder. Once you have placed the file in this folder, log out and log back in to enable it.
