Alerted Description

The Alerted app utilizes advanced mobile application technologies to aid in the recovery of missing and exploited Children. It was built with the assistance of Random Hacks of Kindness (RHoK), the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and a team of volunteer developers. The App uses geolocation tools and extensive back end reporting to assist law enforcement in the recovery of missing children. Additional tools allow for users to share information socially to increase awareness of those missing, increasing the potential for recovery. Alerted has three core functions: Active AMBER Alerts™ Notify app users of active AMBER Alerts™ within a predefined geographic location based on the alert origination. Users will be able to see all relevant alert details as provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Users will be able to report potential sightings and connect directly with Law Enforcement from within the app. All reported sightings are processed through a back end tracking and reporting dashboard made available to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Missing Children App users can search the entire database of missing children maintained by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Individual missing child posters, with the most recent information, can be viewed and shared. Users will be able to report potential sightings and connect directly with Law Enforcement from within the app. All reported sightings are processed through a back end tracking and reporting dashboard made available to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Peace of Mind App users can store critical information on their device investigators would need in the event a child went missing. This includes all information required to create an AMBER Alert™ poster - with photo. App users will receive reminder notifications to update information on a periodic basis. Information is stored only on the device (not in the cloud) and can be easily shared in the event a child goes missing.
