Until then install this only if you have used gcc compilers before and you are not afraid to get your hands dirty with configuration. Why the issues. GCC is a big program meant to be run on proper linux systems. So as to satisfy the need of a Linux like environment and at the same time take account various limitations of different types of phones eg: with lots of space and memory and the ones who don't have much space, we put the whole gcc in a virtual drive or ext4 image. The ext4 image uncompressed to sdcard and mounted at /data/local/gcc , then, then we set environment variable to set up library paths and path to bin folder. During this process many thing can go wrong. One of the things that is common is that android reports a different path to external storage if you have multiple internal memory and sdcard. But the scripts expect sdcard to be at /sdcard ... I have sufficiently studied this and hence I am ready to make another release. However I will keep this one live until I am done. Meanwhile I recommend to use Sourcelair for simple programming.
