ImageConverter Basic is a compact and poweful image editor that allows you to convert multiple images. Among other things it is possible to change the image size, to save pictures in a different format, to rotate images or to adapt the color. This application was created out of convenience: After a vacation, lots of photos taken with a digital camera, should be sent by mail to some friends and acquaintances. But there was a problem: The photos of the digital camera were much too large to send them in this way, so the pictures had to be reduced bit by bit. To accomplish this task, you need either a lot of time and a paint program or you need the idea to create an image converter, which can change the size of many images at once, with just one click. The advantage lies not only in the saving of time if you do not have to open, change and save each image individually - many people do not have a professional graphics program for doing this. Due to the positive response to this software, it has been expanded over time more and more: now it supports lots of formats and next to the image size you can change for example the color, the contrast and the brightness, images can be rotated or inverted, it is possible to crop pictures or you dan draw a frame around them or add a watermark to the original image. All these functions can be applied simultaneously to any number of images and the program has not lost the simplicity of the early days yet. The main program of the image converter is divided into four areas, which are separated by boxes from each other. The input area is concerned with adding the pictures to be edited. In the preview area, it is possible to look at the pictures and the applied changes in advance. The changes can be choosen in the box "Actions", where you are able to set all preferences. Finally, the box "Saving" is used to accomplish all of the saving options. Main features: Ease of Use: Immediately after you have added the images to be processed, you will see the first results and the first images are ready to be saved. Nevertheless, many more self-explaining setting options are available. If that is not enough, look at the extensive help section. Batch Processing: It can be worked on any number of images at the same time. The images can be easily added to the program, by being dragged from any folder of your computer in the processing list. Additionaly, it is also possible to open single images or to search in folders (optionally with a customized filter to search for special file formats). After adding the images, only one click on "Convert" is necessary to apply all settings to all images. The settings are enabled only by clicking on them in the box "Actions" on the upper right. Preview: Without destroying the original image, you will see the effect of your settings in the preview box immediately after selecting an option. With the keyboard shortcut F7, the preview can be enabled or disabled, so the changes can be directly compared with the original image. In addition, on slow computers, it is an advantage to disable the preview function during changing the settings, because the preview is computationally intensive. Change Image Size: You can resize the image to any customized size, it does not matter if the image is enlarged or reduced. It is possible to keep or alter the proportions or to respect portrait and landscape orientation. Rotate and Flip: The image can be flipped vertically or horizontally, or rotated by an angle. Color Changes: Among other color changes, it is possible to adapt the colors red, green and blue, to make a gamma-correction of the image, to apply a color reduction to any number of colors or to invert the image (negative image). Contrast, Brightness and Saturation: With a simple slider you can enhance or reduce the contrst, brightness and saturation of an image. Crop and Cut: You can cut off as many pixels as you want from a side of your choice. This makes it possible to remove certain parts of the image. Paste Watermark or other Images: Easily a watermark or any other image can be added to the original image. You can choose freely, how large the watermark should be (for example full-size, size of the original image, custom size) and on which position the watermark should be pasted (for example center or with a certain distance from a side). Also the transpareny of the watermark can adjusted freely. At a high level of transparency you can see the watermark barely, at a low level of transparency or with no transparency, the watermark seems to be copied in the original image. Thus it is possible to add a logo in the picture, for example if you want to publish it on a website. Furthermore, it is possible to use a transparent color that is not copied from the watermark. Draw a Frame around the Image: With this function it is possible to draw a frame in a customized color and width around the original image. The frame can either be painted over the original image or the original image can be enlarged for the frame. Formats: In the current version of the image converter over 30 file formats are supported in which the images can be opened or saved. So it is also possible to convert an image from one format to another. For a list of the supported image formats, see the section formats. Save Configuration: With one click you can save the current configuration (all settings) to load them again later. Additionaly you can save a configuration that loads automatically at startup. So if you always edit images with the same options, you do not have to set them again and again everytime you start the software. The configuration files (.bkg) can be directly associated with the program, so you only need to click on one of this files to open the image converter with the appropriate settings. Saving Options: The original image can be overwritten, you can choose a new folder or filename or you can save in a different image format. When choosing a new filename, you can use some constants, which make it possible to number the images or to use the old filename in addition with some other strings. How this works is explained in detail in the help section and the tutorials. Other Settings: Behind this, there are many other configuration options in the software which can simplify your work. For example, the background and frame of the preview image can be changed so that you can assess the effects of the changed image in another context. No bad investment: You can download this Software for free (Freeware) and it nevertheless works absolutely and unlimitedly in the full performance range. In addition, you can pass the Software as often as you would like. You only pay for the Software if you want to pay something and even then you are able to pay as much as you want. No installation: The program works without installation. This spares your Registry and you can immediately use it. Nevertheless it is possible to register the file extension (.bkg) for configuration files, to open a configuration with a single mouse click. Of course this registration is not required to run the program and can any time be undone with the software.
