Kernrate Viewer Description

Kernrate Viewer has been created as a simple tool that can offer a visual representation of the CPU usage based on the Kernrate (kernel profiler) output. The application is designed for usage on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP and it can be easily added to the system by following the instructions on the screen after running the installer file.General purposeIt can be used to analyze performance bottlenecks caused by various applications that apply significant stress on the central processing unit. The application works by pulling out the data recorded with Kernrate and converting the contents into Excel worksheets; these enable the graphical representation of the data making it very easy to understand it. Working with the productThe target machine does not need to have Excel installed as the interpretation of the results can be done on a different system that is equipped with the Office product. Although knowing the current performance of the computer and the cause that affects it is very useful information Kernrate Viewer is not intended for the average user. The application targets developers that need to check the performance impact their tools have in different development stages. This enables them to tweak the code so that the regular user benefits from a smoothly running product. As such, working with the tool can be somewhat complicated for the average Joe, even if full instructions are available in the download folder of the application. ConclusionKernrate Viewer can provide significant insight on the CPU utilization of a program and the information is presented in a clear way. However, it is not intended for Windows versions above XP and it has not received updates for a long time, which makes it out of date. Reviewed by Ionut Ilascu, last updated on April 8th, 2014
