Windows is an operating system which allows us to create files and process their contents, save them and print them. However files, be they personal files, applications or system files, tend to proliferate to such an extent that only batch processing would be a viable way of managing them. MAGENTA's Extensions for MS-Windows is a series of added functions to the operating system which give simple solutions to common problems. They are not a separate program which you have to run in order to perform a certain task; instead they are seamlessly integrated into Windows and they are as easy to use as performing a copy and paste function through Windows Explorer.MAGENTA Extensions 2006 for Windows features four extensions:· MAGENTA - Print folder's contents. This Extension enables you to print the names of the files and subfolders of the current folder, in all the available views and details: as icons, with size information, dates etc. Moreover you can print the full folder structure including their subfolders and files. You can also save them as an html file.· MAGENTA - Rename files. This extension Extension you to batch rename files. The renaming can be done in three ways: a) replace part of their names, b) convert all characters to lowercase, and c) convert all characters to uppercase. Hence you can replace .JPG with .TIF, the space character (" ") with underscore ( "_") and so on.· MAGENTA - Select files and folders. This Extension enables you to select files using wildcards. For example *.doc selects all MS-Word files, car*.* selects all files whose names start with "car", and car???men.doc selects all MS-Word files whose names start with "car", are followed with any three characters and end in "men".· MAGENTA - Run with parameters. You can use this Extension to run a program with parameters. Many programs accept on their command line certain information in a standard order (this information is called parameters) which affects how they run. For example if you add to Microsoft Word the parameter /mFile the last file you edited will open automatically when the program is launched. Accessing the ExtensionsThe Extension can be accessed through the system pop-up menus. The pop-up menus appear when you right click on a file's icon. Then you select the Extension that you want.Important:Right-clicking on a file does not affect it in any way. It is just a way to display the pop-up menu and select the extension of your choice. The extension you select will affect the icons of the current folder or / and its subfolders and not the file or folder on which you right-clicked. If you want it to affect the files of a certain subfolder open the subfolder first and then right-click on an icon on it.
