MyCRC Description

MyCRC is a simple command-line utility that shows you the checksum of any selected file. It supports a few checksum types, namely CRC8, CRC16, CRC32, MD2, MD4, MD5 and SHA1. The app can be seamlessly handled, even by users with little or no experience in hash verification tools. Nowadays, most users prefer working with graphical user interfaces that preferably come equipped with a clean and intuitive layout. However, some people prefer to stick to Command Prompter-based programs, since they are less likely to cause OS errors and usually carry out a task in no time, while demanding reduced effort from the user. It is also important to mention that command-line tools do not work with the Windows Registry. Furthermore, since they do not come equipped with an installer, they can be run on any workstation from a USB flash drive or similar storage unit. MyCRC shows a list of available options upon initialization, along with usage details. Therefore, you can simply input a command line to find out the preferred type of checksum of any file, as long as it is placed in the same directory as the program. Unfortunately, MyCRC does not integrate a function to help you compare the checksum values of two different files, or of a file with an existing checksum, in order to check the integrity of the file in question. As expected, the tool does not put a strain on the computer's activity. We have noticed a minimal CPU and system memory consumption during its runtime. No error dialogs have been shown in our tests, and the app did not hang or crash. On the downside, MyCRC has not been updated for a pretty long time.
