Editor's review: This is a tool to synchronize information in Active Directory with SharePoint lists. SharePoint AD Information Sync 2.0 provides a quick and convenient way to synchronize AD information with SharePoint lists either manually or automatically at specified intervals. SharePoint AD Information Sync provides a short-cut to synchronize information in AD with SharePoint lists based on profile synchronization. Modifications made to SharePoint lists can be synced back to AD too. You can map columns between AD fields and Share Point list items so that sync can happen accurately. Syncing schedule will ensure the information is synced back and forth at the times set for it. After this is installed you will need to activate it and then access the link to the AD Information Sync Settings page. This page becomes available for all the sites in the defined site collection after the tool has been activated. The interface is quite well designed. But you have to be a member of the IT support group who understand the SharePoint as well as AD related issues. Settings in themselves are straightforward and easily done. The interface screens are quite intuitive too, but this is not for a novice. The AD information that needs to be synced can be specified by Organizational Unit (OU) and LDAP query string. Some items may need specific conditions. These can be excluded from the sync process and the tool allows you to set these exclusion quickly. You can exclude any user/group also from the sync process. A sync log is provided that records all the changes, which is a convenience for the administrator and acts as an audit trail too.
