XPRO32 Description

Adders, subtracters, multipliers and dividers were taken from the SOLEON2 processor, the rest was implemented completely new. XPRO32 is improved in many ways. A normal instruction takes one cycle and no more twenty minicycles. A memory instruction takes two cycles. A new cycle is not longer than a minicycle was before. A changable amount of memory is contained in the source. Additional memory can be added with ASB. A simple keyboard controller is included and also a controller for QVGA displays. The instruction word length is reduced from 64 bit to 32 bit. Not only single instructions but also some small programs were tested. The compilation of XPRO32 or XPRO32fast takes about one minute at 2.6 GHZ. One cycle of XPRO32fast takes 30 seconds at 2.6 GHZ and one of XPRO32 more than ten minutes. XPRO32fast is a version of XPRO32 without dividers. One division is more than twenty times slower than the rest of the lightweight processor logic.
