EDID editor Description

EDID editor is a free and open-source tool that can be used to edit EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) CEA extension blocks in a user-friendly manner. It comes packed with a hexadecimal code editing mode for VESA blocks, along with other useful settings.Program integrationThere is no setup pack involved. Programmers can use the source code provided by the package to integrate EDID editor into their own applications, while casual users may directly launch the tool without any other installers. The latter option also means that EDID editor can be saved to a USB flash drive or other removable storage unit, in order to run it on any PC easily. Plus, it does not modify Windows registry settings or create extra files on the disk, thus leaving no traces behind after its removal. Classical-looking interface and handy settingsThe GUI is represented by a normal window with a plain and simple structure, where it is possible to examine valid audio and video formats, view and edit the hex code of VESA blocks, select the number of channels, sample rate and bits per sample, as well as to easily save and load dialogs. Evaluation and conclusionEDID editor does not put a strain on computer performance, since it runs on low CPU and RAM. However, it popped up several errors in our testing. We must also take into account that it has not been updated for a long time, and it is likely to have compatibility issues with later operating systems.
